Valentine's Photo Family Tree

Here's a creative way to display your loved ones, literally in a tree! Find directions under the Crafty Cat tab.

Floor Tape Letters

This is a fantastic idea to teach letters! Boys can use their trucks, cars, trains, or super heroes. The girls can use their princesses, bracelets, beads, or baby bottles. You could trade them in for crayons, blocks, anything that can line up over the tape! Go to floor tape letters here for the whole page!

Hot Chocolate Counting

I love this idea! The kids love marshmallows! The only question is how to keep them counting and not just eating?   http://www.themeasuredmom.com/marshmallow-math/

What Can I Do with all this Snow?

Are you ever wondering what else you can do with all the snow in the winter? You are tired of shoveling, the kids are tired of building snowmen...Today I added an idea in my Crafty Cat tab for "snow painting". Let those little artists go to work.  If it is just too cold to go play outside, bring the snow in! Shovel a bit into a square shaped pan or bucket. Let the kids play with it inside! They can use watercolor paints to paint in it with paintbrushes. They can use playdough molds to shape it. When it starts to melt, just go get some more!

Easy Color Matching

I love this! It's so simple yet such a great way for kids to match up colors! Plus, I love to make the kids practice their fine motor skills and use tweezers or fun pinchers to grab those pom poms!

Books to Read

I just finished a few new books for my Book Reviews. I love to read! However, finding the time to do it is hard. I actually have discovered that if I have a good book, the time flies when I'm riding the bike at the Y! Exercise and a good book! I can't beat that! The books I added today are When She Woke By: Hillary Jordan and Everything I Never Told You By: Celeste Ng. Check them out!

Winter Crafts

I added a few of my favorite preschool winter crafts. I use these with 3 and 4 year olds at a YMCA. They love them and are easy for them to do. I pre-cut most of the projects but as they start to practice their scissor skills I let them begin cutting out their own projects. You can find them in the "teaching tidbits" tab.

Stromboli

I was thinking about all the different ways of presenting "pizza" flavored meals. There are casseroles, calzones, pizza rolls, pizza roll-ups, pizza pockets, and the list goes on. So I added one of our family's favorites to my baking bits page, stromboli.

Suncatchers and Cookie Cutter Bird Feeders

Today I was feeling crafty so I added a few projects we've done. They are listed under Crafty Cat. The suncatcher is great and easy project to do with kids. We chose our flowers for it in the summer but you could add winter items and do it anytime of the year.
The bird feeders were especially fun because the girls thought the seeds were so unique. They wanted to taste them for themselves! I think the birds will enjoy them more! We put them up today and are anxiously waiting to see if any birds will come. We are hoping the squirrels don't get to them first!
